Breakfast Club

About this Project

Breakfast Club is a centre-based open-access provision delivered every Monday to Friday, offering children and young people a warm, welcoming start to the day. Rooted in our values of compassion, integrity and belonging, the club creates a safe and friendly space where participants can begin the morning with a nutritious breakfast, positive relationships and a sense of stability.

Our aim is to support wellbeing, attendance, belonging and readiness to learn by removing common barriers to a positive school day. Many children and young people arrive at school hungry, anxious or disconnected; the Breakfast Club helps to ease those pressures through a calm routine, trusted adults and inclusive activities that encourage engagement and confidence.

The provision is designed to be open-access and community-focused, ensuring that support is available to those who may benefit most, while maintaining an environment where everyone feels valued and included. Alongside breakfast, participants can take part in gentle activities, social interaction and informal support that help build friendships and strengthen positive habits.

By working closely with schools, families and local partners, Newcastle Benfield Community Hub aims to contribute to improved attendance, stronger connections and better outcomes for children and young people. The Breakfast Club also provides opportunities for volunteers and trusted adults to offer encouragement, role modelling and consistent support.

This recurring project plays an important role in our wider commitment to improving young peoples wellbeing through inclusive activities and reliable weekly safe-space provision. It is a practical, caring response to local need, helping children and young people feel prepared, supported and ready to learn each morning.
